Who is Miss Lulu?
Hi, I'm Laura! I help special educators teach meaningful academics & REAL-LIFE SKILLS TO STUDENTS WITH SIGNIFICANT DISABILITIES.
If you're trying to balance IEP goals, alternate standards, functional skills, behavior, paraprofessionals, and data collection...you're not alone. Special education teachers are asked to do a lot, and finding materials and strategies specially designed for students with significant disabilities can be frustrating.
This space exists to help make that work easier.
Students with significant disabilities deserve meaningful academics and real-life skills.
And teachers deserve tools to make both possible.
I spent nine years teaching in a self-contained life skills classroom serving students with significant cognitive disabilities. Like many special education teachers, I constantly found myself trying to balance academic instruction, functional life skills, and IEP goals while also managing behavior, data collection, and staff.
Finding resources that truly worked for my students wasn’t easy.
So I started creating my own.
Today, I work as a district coordinator, supporting teachers across multiple schools, and I continue to create tools and strategies designed to make special education instruction more manageable and meaningful.

My EXPERIENCE IN SPECIAL EDUCATION
self-contained teacher
district coordinator
sped instructional coach
transition specialist
curriculum developer
Advocating for individuals with disabilities isn't just my career- it's personal.
When I was 20 weeks pregnant, our son was diagnosed with Spina Bifida. Overnight, I found myself experiencing special education from a completely different perspective: as a parent.
That experience changed how I see this work. It reminded me that behind every IEP, evaluation, and instructional plan is a child and a family hoping someone will see their potential. That perspective drives everything I do, both as a coordinator and as a resource creator.
Seeing special education from both sides of the table has shaped the way I approach everything that I do, as a district coordinator, as a curriculum creator, and as someone who is deeply committed to helping teachers support their students in meaningful ways.
Outside of my work in special education, I'm a wife and mom who enjoys reading, exploring the outdoors, cooking, and the occasional craft project.
